Laid Up Insurance

Whether your classic car in restoration or just not going anywhere in the foreseeable future? Whatever reason you’ve made a SORN on your prize possession; we will still have an insurance policy ideal for you. Although you’re not legally required to have insurance when an off road notice has been placed, we still offer a laid up insurance policy for that extra peace of mind, for when when you’re not driving the vehicle.

SORN Explained

Your vehicle must have insurance unless a ‘Statutory Off Road Notice’ has been made. Having made a notification you’re at no obligation to have your vehicle insured, your vehicle will have to be kept off the public roads at all times. Although generally we find that with many client’s it’s a lot to have uninsured and risk in the safety of your garage, after all they are your prised possessions. Classic Cars are no exception we're afraid, even if you use your car in the summer months only, the days are distant and in the past, where you could keep them uninsured throughout the winter. However, even if you’ve given a SORN to your vehicle, you can still insure it under our laid up insurance.

Some of the benefits which we offer on our policies include:

Agreed Value

Even if your vehicle is laid up and sat doing nothing, we can still put an agreed value on the policy, all we need is for the car to be over 5 years old and a valuation. If you’re a member of a car club, or get an independent specialist to agree the value, then we’ll put it in place at no extra costs.

Parts Cover

We understand that your classic car may sometimes not stay in one part. i.e. If you’re doing restoration, maintenance or for whatever great reason your vehicle lays dismantled in your garage; then your parts will be covered as long as they remain in the same garage the insurance has been taken out for.
